A perfect example. Every profession has inherent image problems. There are many things that we do to hurt our own image. If you consider the submissions to this discussion group over the last 6 months it is easy to see that many people other than 'professional arborists' visit this group. There are no excusses for rude behavior. Particularly over differences of opinion. So far it is a matter of opinion not fact. The post that I made five minutes addressed this fact. There are few hard facts when you are discussing trees. Fertilization is a good example of a topic that arouses many different opinions. I school I was taught that you don't need to fertilize trees (traditional forestry program). In the 'real' world I have been taught that you often do need to fertilize. How do YOU decide what information to believe. It will take years to develop my own beliefs from observation. During this time I may be disseminating the wrong advice. I want to be as correct as possible.

Why do people want to post things anonymously? Is it because you don't want to recieve email back?

As a certified arborist and a member of ISA I fully support management of this discussions group to maintain a high level of profesionalism. We need not be rude just because we disagree.
