During the course he asked what a profession was and what were the charachteristics
of a professional. It was obvious that as a profession arborist do a lot to harm their image
as professionals.
It is likely that most of the comunity would have problems seeing us as professionals.
Yet as a profession we are truely important. We rank right near the top. Sure if there
were no courts we would have problems ... but no trees and we would have all sorts of problems.
Yes as a profession we are truely potentially more important than lawyers etc, but we need
to act like it.
Should we have a professional code of conduct for this discussion group. It seems to me spectacular
that a profession can have such a discussion group but sometimes I worry about the image that we
may comunicate (self included) by the things we say.
Now I'm not suggesting some form of censorship but a code that is able to help elevate our image.
