Mistletoe in Oak

Has anyone had success in treating/removing mistletoe?
A year ago I thought I had successfully removed an infestation on a small branch in a relatively young tree (planted 4 years ago). This spring, however, the mistletoe is leafing out in several spots -including the trunk at a height of about 7 feet. Any attempt at eradicative pruning at this point will ruin the tree.
I've heard of wrapping the infested area with black plastic.
Will round-up brushed on to the foliage of the mistletoe harm the oak tree? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
