Adjusted Trunk Appraisal formula

This Adjusted Trunk Appraisal formula is way off. While I'm waiting for the "Guide for Plant Appraisal," does anyone
know what's wrong with this formula?: ATA = -.335d + 69.3d squared - 1087.

In the spirit of the emperor's new clothes, what formula in this area would not be way off? Trees may very well be some of the most precious things we have, and yet how we value them is, to me, immature even infantile in any larger consideration.

Trees don't have enough troubles without some chartered accountant peering at them through his spread-sheet.

Spare me the responses, I just had to ventilate and I've got more important things to do--

I also meant no disrespect to hbell@cdsnet.net , I'm just tired of trying to cramp living, dynamic things into formulas and abstractions on some 8 1/2 by 11 page.
