An excellent reminder that trees live in specific physical contexts--and decisions about trees are too often based on generalizations and cliches that don't serve individual trees very well. When we are too broad or sloppy in assumptions about any interventions, including transplanting, trees will suffer. The fact that thy're remarkably resilient creatures shouldn't allow us to escape the responsibilities for meaningful and accurate judgements and actions.
Ethics aren't just the issues of ourselves, each other, and customers; ethics surely include our treatment of trees as well.
