"Conker" Prevention

I am seeking advice from fellow arborists on how to prevent/
restrict conkers (fruit) forming on Aesculus hippocastanum.
The problem is the usual one of kids creating a nuisance by
trying to knock the fruits from the trees. The usual remedy
is fell the tree, but this does seem drastic. Spraying is
out of the question! Can anyone suggest a suitable chemical
and how it might be applied, remember in the UK stem
injection is a very practise indeed.
