you should contact Dr. Donald Marx...there is extensive, and very successful research on southern live oak injected w/ mycor. Salt is a factor...as you know high levels will reverse the osmotic pressure in the soil pulling moisture (nutrients) awy from the absorbing roots therefore causing die-back. the salt contamination should be mitigated prior to mycor or root promoting type applications. This can be done with powdered gypsum and heavy flushes of fresh water, preferably injected.
