Accidents can be broken down three ways, personnel injury, property damage and equipment damage or loss. Personnel injury should be covered by Workman's comp in the U.S.A. However property damage and equipment are another critter. Damage is going to occur, lets face facts, there are safer proffessions. When damage occurrs my employees MUST fill out and accident or injury report. This is a one page report that details how this instance occurred, what actually happened, how could this have been prevented and the cost to the Company. This is signed by the employee. We try to have regular safety meetings on Monday mornings, this takes about 1/2 hour. We follow N.A.A. Tailgate program, at the end of this any accident or injury is explained to all crew by the person who had to fill out the report. Call it peer pressure or what ever but IT WORKS! You must make sure the epmhisis is on safety, by reviewing with all it stop someone elese from the same outcome. Detailed expense analys

y puts into repairing, replacing or workman's comp rates the less we can put into pay increase's. If an employee's personnel file begins to fill with these reports, it will show a pattern that you cannot tolarate. Documated format is required in Ma. for termination of employment. We have to make a work enviroment that allows our employees to want to work in the field of Arboriculture. Good employees are your best asset hold on to them, terminate the rest. Climb Safe
