I have witnessed the use of deeply stamped concrete. Expansion causes the surfaces then to crack at the weaker points. It is an effective way to control expansion and leaves movement nearly unnoticed. Patterned sufaces are eye pleasing and long lasting.

Deep srone like stamps may however be difficult for women in high heels. In those instances where I have seen it used , the highly used area where walking was common smoother textures where employed.
