I recently purchased a home that has a moderately large "Monkey Puzzle" tree in the yard. The first year that we lived here it produced 1 cone. The second year it produced 3 cones and at this time we installed an underground sprinkler system and planted a new lawn. The following year (this year) the tree has produced 20+ cones. Could the constant and regular watering be the cause for the production of these cones? Also the growth on limbs seems to be enhanced since this time. My other question is; are the cones edible? My limited research has identified this as a female of the species.
