I am not sure there is going to be that much difference
between the reactions of a PNW and any other pioneer decid
forests. The one thing I have seen, here in the
mid-atlantic as "pests" is the explosion of exotic
invasives within the newly exposed edge areas.
To solve, or prevent, this problem I have requested or
required evergreen plantings along south facing edges.
