I was hopeing some one would comment on the bleach idea. I have not ever
used it on a tree, just to sterilize tools when pruning diseased parts.
My observation is that possibly if an agent were applied to the wound that
destroyed the food value of a thin layer of those cells exposed to it. The
organisms would be deterred from getting established, therefor the damaged
cells might stand a better chance of retaining their structural integrity
for closure and in containment.
