I would like to hear about what software others are using " pros & cons. So I can make an
intelligent decision as to which would be best for running this business.
Primarily almost all of the work performed is in the form of services. There are several
employees, several subcontractors, the usual equipment and most work is contractual.
I am using IBM compatible 486dx 500mgbHD, 32mg RAM, 3.5 disk, CDrom,
w/Windows95.
I have developed a method of biding that utilizes the trunk area of trees and other factors to
develop costs relational to volume of debris in removals. I have found in experience one
can only move so much debris so fast. I usually then add in % factors to allow for
complications. Such as where the tree is located, What % of canopy has to be lowered,
What % of trunk must be lowered, How far must the debris be moved for chipping or
loading on equipment, Is debris to be hauled away, etc. All of these site conditions have a
figurable impact on developing an accurate cost that is ultimately relational to the volume
of the tree being managed.
Sometimes I still have to rely on that gut feeling, for clearances and deadwooding mostly.
I would greatly appreciate any insights you may wish to share with me, in regard to
software or biding practices
Thanks
