Development in a PNW Pioneer Deciduous Forest

Looking for info on successful conservation of PNW deciduous
forest made up of primarily alder and maple forest with new
edges created by adjacent development.
Typical disease and pest info and possible controls would be useful.
Have you had success in enhancement to produce a coniferous
stand for longevity of the conservation area?
