Arborvitae

I have 2 arborviate trees inside my condo patio area. The
condo board of directors has told me that I ought to remove
these trees, as they could jeopardize the brick patio wall
nearby. I had a nursery look at the trees and was told that
they pose no immediate risk and won't for 5 - 10 years.

I am seeking information on the root structure of arborvitae.
I was told that the roots are fibrous, though I'm not sure
what that means. If the roots go straight down, or are fine
and spread out, I would think they would not endanger the
structure of a brick wall.

Can anyone help me build my case to preserve these trees?

Thanks so much.
