Show me a tree with the numbers( lbs.) on it. Then rope to block ratios are useful. Nothing serves a climber better than experience,a good eye and intution. How do you think they calculate the strenth of the steel block and the rope.Past Experience..... Do you think they brake every block they manufacture to be able to tell you how strong it is.I wouldn't buy a broken block would you? The numbers are really useful if your lifting something that has been weighed .The ratio I go by is big limbs, big wood , big block , big rope, big saw and you know the rest.
