Why does a doublebraid splice have to be pulled apart twice to come undone?
Are you refering to the lockstitch as one of the two things that has to come
undone? The only doublebraid splice I know, the cover is tucked into the core,
then the core is burried 24 rope diameters back into the cover. Am I thinking of
a different splice than you use?

As for the lockstitching, ive been using the method described by Brion Toss in his
(Making Eye Splices) video. When you measure your 24 rope diameters, you pull out
one cover yarn, it helps as a marker, then it can be used to sew everything together when
the splice is complete.

Sean, why dont you shed some light on this subject? Is the doublebraid splice safe?
