Is it mainly only the large cities or colleges and universities that take their trees seriously? And of course I have to start this mess again: Do you have any women active in the industry?

T.P.O-Tree preservatoin order.National standard administered by local
councils.ANYONE WISHING TO PRUNE or remove a tree on private property
must seek an exemption to the TPO.The local TPO officer inspects the
tree in question and approves or dissaproves the application.
TPO OFFICER IS A VERY important job.In regional aust.,most councils
cannot afford to employ full time proffessionals and so use building
inspectors etc.to perform this important task.Almost invariably they
have no horticultural qualifications.
IN Aust.only qualified arborists may prune trees(this law is largely
unenforced outside the capital cities).Anyone may perform full removals.
Pruning trees around powerlines(as I do)requires extensive inhouse
training by the power supply authority.
Women are not particularly active in the industry;however Judy
Fakes, head of the Aust.Colle ge of horticulture and arboriculture is
very active in all levels of the industry. She is without doubt the most
respected person in Australian arboriculture.
