People in semi-urban and country town australia (Generally)do not appriciatte the value of healthy, well situated trees. Local council ineptitude does not help the situation. ie, cocos palm,campor.l. etc. require a TPO,yet a council TPO officer recently directed me to remove all the "dead" Liquidambers from a residential site.It was the middle of winter and the trees were all magnificent specimens of their kind. The Capitol citties of australia have well informed horticultural professionals performing the critically important task of tree insprction and issuance of TPOs. Rural aust. is losing its most valuable assets due to local councils use of building inspectors, motor mechanics and toilet cleaners as tree inspectors. The forthcoming Sydney olympic games has seen a massive redirection of public funds. Rural Australia is broke! Sydney will host its first olympics; Australian arboriculture will pay the price. I do not want to have to take my children to a national park to show t
hemm a gum tree.
