This granola has never been an advocate of car racing--I'd like to see it outlawed--but the NPR report does add up.
That one piston is dumping its exhaust directly into the air. I'm sure all your saws are always perfectly tuned, but the average user is probably dumping unburned fuel out along with the exhaust.
Modern cars, meanwhile, send all their exhaust through catalytic converters and various other pollution control measures before expelling it. They're also more likely to be tuned properly (no guarantee, I admit).
If you read my postings earlier when the subject of damage caused by chainsaws, you'll know I don't advocate getting rid of them, but let's be honest, they're no boon to the environment.
Maybe the actual running time is small, butit adds up when you do it every day, and you're one of a crew of many, and they're one company out of thousands.
