I too climb a split-tail/fair-lead/slack-tender system when I have the time and am very curious to know about potential for failure. From what I've seen its very slick. With the intrduction of the Buckingham dbl-D saddles it seems to make excellent sense also. I think what we do as climbing arborists can be very dangerous, with the chance of failures in all aspects of our daily routines. It is for precisely this reason that we are regulated by ansi z133.1 and have created terms like "T.D.S"-tie,dress & set and "H.O.P.E"-Hazard,Obstacle,Plan & Equiptment. It all comes down to being properly trained and experienced and using your BRAIN !
Would love to here why split-tails may fail( aside from the obvious)
PLAN YOUR CLIMB-CLIMB YOUR PLAN.
