I have coveted that Petzl ascender since my first Sherril's catalog, but it still hasn't made the budget. Have you used it happily?
I just learned something new from the Tree Climber's Companion (I will keep my raves short, but I'm glad I finally bought that book). Instead of Bowlines, I tie off the ends of my ropes with buntline hitches now (a knot I never knew before).
I also used to covet those captured eye biners sherrill's has, but with the buntline the rope cinches down on the biner, so it no longer turns over and I no longer need a captive eye.
Thanks to Jeff Jepson, Tom Dunlap, and all the knotmakers over the years for solving this nagging annoyance for me.
See you in the trees!
Keith
