But the point is: I've seen many climbers that feel
that they have to rig every branch. i.e. limb 3" dia.
20' long, climber: hey, get the port/wrap, 5/8 sling,
pulley & whoopie sling. The way I see it, by the time
they get all that junk out of the truck & back to the tree,
I could've cut it in to small pieces and thrown it to a safe
spot or used a "cheap" rope to get down in 1 piece. Now
if you say I'll damage the bark, I think there's a speed vs
weight concept. This is why I'll buy some cheap 3 strand ropes,
but I'll never run our double braids over a crotch. But,
nor do I recognize Missouri as a part of the U.S.
One more quick tip, in our local gun shows you'll
find carabiners at low prices, some army surplus some
not. But, I did buy some for .50/ea. non-locking type
not for life support, but they have a purpose.
So what do you think? Let's hear it!!
