But I do my best to make sense.
I agree with Dblbraid, when I can I'll tie in twice.
Now, when working a large trunk i.e. I'll use a 70cc
saw & 28" bar starting at 50'. After cutting the notch
we'll attach the sling & pulley, I'll attach my flip line
above the sling & below the notch (of course). Often I don't
like using my climbing line tied well below me, because I
don't like the piece hitting my line or catching.
Many climbers around here, just throw the climbing line
back to earth. I don't like that method for the obvious
reasons.
One other suggestion might be used on smooth bark trees,
I often cut a notch in the piece and then tie my knot in
that spot. I also have been using a spliced hook on to
my lowering lines, this method uses no knots at all,
