All said and done , this is a very effective knot. Did the
Mountaineer Book specify how many wraps were to be placed
above the spiral ? Can you tie it with 1 or 4 wraps ?
The Selvagee and the Mechan are so similar you can taste
it. Is the Blake knot the same knot if you go through one
wrap instead of two ? Is the taut line hitch the same with
1 on 2 instead of 2 on 1 ?
