O.K.
I thought, we had rehashed this topic into the dirt.
But here We go again!
Please explain on how this will make you fall? Keith, it's been
some time. If directed at me, I don't think it wears the end as much as the split tail tail. I have used over & over again. Same tree vs swivel snap.
Some friends says it's great because they don't have to retie the blake hitch/taunt. But how often to you recrotch 2' higher?
When I throw my snap I looking for 20-30' higher, if you choose not to untie w/split now you must pull 40' to get 20' higher, correct? through a fiction knot.
When I used the split I used a method so I could pull all the slack w/one hand either way. Using a swivel snap I use a bent gate to hold the line just in case I drop it. Throw & retie. It's done & quick.
Now for 2xbraid, the only reason I say this, is for the small company with 10-20 employees. IF YOU/EMPLOYEE SPLICE THE ROPE AND ANY PART OF THE ROPE SHOULD FAIL, THE OWNER IS AT FAULT.
If you buy the splice from an arborist supply house or manf.
they are responsible, your choice. I don't know about you, but I do want to retire one day, I want to put the kids in collage. I don't want to worry about low wages.
Doing the job correctly is important,(i.e. repeat business) but is it worth the x-tra time using a system for someone who can't afford new rope?
This should be "priced in" your work. I climb many large trees using a swivel snap, changing ends every day. When you use a 180' climbing line what part do you use the most?
For Me all of it, I can't get back to the ground to prune otherwise.
On the other hand, if you have employees what system is approved by ansi?
To be used day in & out every day, for all trees, which is better?
The U.S. GOVERMENT has a method, but everybody says what I say has nothing to do with trees. You can mention a word W/O tree in it.
It's a system that works for MOST people, this is decided by a board to work as a unit/army. They devote their job for this purpose, I have used it to my advantage.
But remember if YOU LIKE YOUR SYSTEM, DON'T LISTEN TO ANYBODY ELSE!!!! YOU HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT.
Have a good day keith, work safe, enjoy the happier minutes of life.
