Never used them never will. I use a carabiner to secure saw to my belt when not in use. The ground man is to NEVER to be under the climber even when the saw is not running. But every now and then we get a over exited new guy,who no matter what you tell em first stray under a climber. This is dealt with an extreme ass chewing on the subject of safety. The climber cannot be looking out for everyone all the time. How many close calls can you recall by someone running under you during a cut? We require hard hats for climber and ground crew. Even when no over head trimming is taking place,I have seen hangers come down but end first un expectedly. We may look like kooks with our hard hats on but at least we are prepared should somethig fall. I really do not see the use of hard hats alot around here. Line clearance guys yes ,private companies no . Guess it comes down to choice. But being a small buisness owner, I am the one who is legaly responsible for every thing that takes place during th
e work day. Plus I feel
a moral obligation to require my guys to wear them. I cant imagine having to explain to one of my employee family members that he was killed by a blow to the head and that a hard hat could of saved his life. This is not a goverment thing this is a common sense thing. By the way Mr concentric please respond to my rebutal on topping would like to hear some more from you or any one else for that matter. gotta run! THE FUGITIVE
