Yes, I know the saddle you're using, & I do have a Sherrill
catalog. I tried the saddle but at that time I purchased the
Master, the first thing I did do was to sew all the snaps &
rings where I wanted them. I did waste several days trying
it out. If you have seen your buddies before with a throw
line it is simlar to a lab. It won't work in most of our trees
too many limbs. Sometimes the cam guard will catch on a small sucker ( through the ring) & become lodged or the little ring will pass through the big ring. Now your in a world of shit. It would be nice to have a trained monkey to run up the tree set the cam guard & line in a nice high limb. One time I hired a "expert" climber from Bartlett, on the way to the job he told me how important it was to set your lines high. I just listened, at the job it took him 30 minutes to hit
that "perfect" throw 80' through brush. I was done with my tree (same size) before he was 10 feet off the ground. Some times settling for a lower crotch is a lot less trouble. I still love my "BLAIR MODEL" more money than the average saddle but you can add snaps or rings or what ever you want. Nice wide back for those tall stubs when you're drop hitching wood. Floating dee & I use it with a swivel snap this allows you to spin 360 w/o getting in a mess. i.e. just keep turning never worry about your ropes. Just say I'm crotched in at 50' but now I have to get higher, flip line, oh
yea there's another point with little dee rings, you can't use the flip line hitch if you have to. OK saftey in throw 20' & retie, proceed higher. With the split tail they say stop retying because you can pull the rope through the knot & throw. I see this as very slow. Using a pulley you don't need a perfect throw it can pass through 1 good & 3 bad crotches it doesn't matter as long as you have 1 strong crotch. I still can set this faster than a cam guard & retrieve it back faster & easier. The only thing I can say, is try the exact set up I use for at least 3 months. Yes, I was in that damn Master/ split tail set up for that long.
PLEASE DON'T BASH ARBORGAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WELL IF I POINT OUT SEVERAL IMPORTANT FINDS & IT SAVES SOMEONES LIFE OR LOSING THE USE OF THEIR LEGS CAN I BASH THEM?
THERE IS A LONG LIST, FOR THOSE IN RESIDENTIAL TREE CARE I STRONGLY SUGGEST A METAL CABLE CORE FLIP LINE, A CHAIN SAW LANYARD (THAT FAILS, BREAKS AT 150 LBS) THIS IS SOMETHING I HAVE USED FOR OVER 10 YEARS EVEN MAKING MY OWN. KEN SAY'S HE'S PERFECT NEVER DROPPED A SAW YET. NEXT WEEK HE WON'T NEED A CLMBING LINE. PERFECT!
REMEMBER CLIMBING IS ONLY 5% OF THIS BUSINESS MAYBE LESS, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE PEOPLE FOCUS ON PROPER CUTS,FERTILIZING,INJECTIONS, DO THEY WORK & WHERE DO THEY WORK? ROOT ROTS THE LIST GOES ON.
