Hello, Arborist (anon.)
Gld you rsponded--at first I thought you'd given up on me. Feel free to send me four pages and blast the shit out of me. If I deserve it, I want to know. If I don't I can let it roll off me.
I haven't been imagining you as old timer like you said--I really haven't been able to get a handle on you at all. I know thaqt ladder remark was a little over the top, and I figured from your postings you weren't the ladder type, but i just couldn't resist the easy joke. I still say the split tail system is excellent for my kind of pruning, and I believe you when you say it isn't for you. What really puzzles me is why you seem so determined to destroy the reputations of arborgames. Maybe they aren't as hot as they think, but who cares? I'd sure as hell take money from husky or any of those companies if they'd pay me to travel around and climb without having to prune or clean up.
As for the swivel snap, I haven't seen one yet with a double lock. I've never tried one, so for all I know it's the best thing going. But I don't use two biners in my split tail (my saddle is pre-split technology, so I don't have room for two), and I still think it's probably lighter than your snap. The saddle itself, on the other hand, weighs about a ton, so it's all pretty relative. It seems like personal preference stuff to me.
On to the bottom line: Yes, I want you to pick my previous answers apart. Again, if I'm wrong I want to know about it. As for leaving out details, I'm not writing for the tradde journals, I'm just trying to help people out. Sometimes I read the boards late or when I'm in a hurry, so maybe I should be more careful, but I think most of what I say is valid. You think I'm wrong? Great! tell me! that's why they call it a discussion group. So far though, most of what I've seen you post has been either slander or opinion. If you want to correct me, stick to facts, please. Not that you shouldn't offer differing opinions, but sometimes I wonder if you stay clear on the difference between the two.
One more thing: how did we get to saw lanyards? You tend to throw things in that have nothing to do with the previous discussion. I use a saw lanyard every day, and I'm not sure why you're attacking me for more arborgames shit. I'm not defending them; i just like the split tail system.
Thanks for one of the more interesting and lively discussions I've seen out here--like I said, keep on me if I screw up. I want to learn and improve.
