Pandanus Palm diseases.

I live in a coastal region of Australia where presently there seems to be a problem with our Pandanus Palms.
Apparently a beetle has infested some the specimens & ultimate total breakdown is the result.
Has anyone encountered such a problem & if so can any light be shed ?
