Lets see if I have this right: standard rescue practices are a joke, Don Blair's rescue statement and the NAA/ISA videos are lame, I'm Fred Flintstone(wonder who Barney is?) and I have no business helping anybody. I'll have to keep that all in mind as I watch my partner's lifeblood ooze down the trunk while reassuring him that I called 911 and qualified first responders are on the way. C'mon man, lets try to be real here. Yes, basic first aid is minimal help at best; and the standard rescue practices could be improved, just as any practice can be improved over time with additional experience, new techniques, and equipment, but how helpful to that process is a bunch of negative ranting and raving. The reality is that if someone is in trouble in a tree the person on the ground needs to help them as much as possible as soon as possible, the more training the better, but basic first aid and CPR will save more lives than nothing at all.
