ISA Volunteer Opportunities
Purpose Statement: The purpose of the Appeals Committee is to process any appeals received from applicants and certificants in regards to exam appeals, exam eligibility, and decertification appeals.
Purpose Statement: The purpose of the Awards Committee is to promote recognition of ISA members and other industry professionals who have made outstanding achievements for and contributions to the arboriculture profession. The ISA Awards Program also recognizes the efforts of individuals who make a positive impact on the urban forest through community outreach and educational efforts. This program is facilitated through the ISA Awards of Distinction and the ISA True Professionals of Arboriculture recognition.
Conference Program Committee
Purpose Statement: To develop the educational program for the ISA annual conference and to seek continual improvement in the educational value of the program and the process for developing it. The Committee will also review and coordinate the development of other educational programs such as regional meetings, workshops, and symposia as appropriate.
Credentialing Council Committee
Purpose Statement: The Credentialing Council (“Council”) serves as a policy body within ISA, responsible for the development, review, evaluation and the administration of all policies and procedures to ensure the impartiality, validity, technical accuracy, and fairness of credentialing programs.
Credentialing Liaison Committee
Purpose Statement: The ISA Certification Liaison Committee is a working committee dedicated to furthering the Mission and Purpose of the ISA by acting as the conduit between ISA chapters, associate organizations, professional affiliations, and Headquarters for credentialing information and resources.
Ethics Review Committee
Purpose Statement: The purpose of the Ethics Review Committee is to adjudicate any ethics cases filed that reach hearing status.
International Safety Committee
Purpose Statement: To foster a positive safety culture within the arboriculture industry that will aid in educating the workforce, thereby reducing the number of injuries and fatalities, and advancing the mission of ISA. ISC will serve as an international forum and resource for arboriculture safety research and aid in the development of working standards for safety in tree care techniques, equipment, and general practices.
Purpose Statement: To develop programs to assess and meet member needs, provide feedback on membership activities, identify growth markets and develop strategies to support growth, and administer policies relating to Chapters, Professional Affiliates, and other third party organizations.
Nominating and Elections (NEC) Committee
Purpose Statement: The purpose of the NEC Committee is to assist the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities regarding the selection of nominees for the Board of Directors and the selection of nominees for the elected positions on the Nominating and Elections Committee.
Purpose Statement: To develop student programs, to assess and meet student member needs, provide feedback on student membership activities.
Subject Matter Expert: Credentialing
Purpose Statement: Create, review, and maintain certification exam content to provide valid, reliable, and legally defensible examinations covering relevant industry topics to minimally qualified candidates.
Subject Matter Expert: Education
Purpose Statement: To commission subject matter experts (SME) to serve as consultants and contributors, and tree workers to test and provide critical review of ISA educational courses and materials.
