R.O.W. Production Manager for WV VA NC

HIGHLIGHTS:  requires 2+ years of experience as General Foreman in Tree Care or Utility service industry, HS Diploma/GED. College degree in construction, forestry, engineering preferred. Overnight travel required. The Production Manager will support WV, VA, NC, and other areas as needed.  Arborist, Utility, Forestry, Right-Of-Way, ROW, Vegetation, Clearance. 

SUMMARY:  the objective of the Production Manager is to provide the necessary leadership to plan, direct, organize, and coordinate all personnel and equipment needs to ensure all projects are brought in at or below the budgeted levels, within the established time lines, and meet the ITS’ company philosophy of providing our clients with supervisor workmanship. The Production Manager will work closely with Project Manager(s) to ensure all projects are completed on time and on budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the performance of and/or leading, coaching, and mentoring of crew members
  • Following strict safety guidelines, responsible for the development of crew members including the inurement of competent leaders. 
  • Verify General Foremen are appropriately coaching, mentoring, and training their crew members to ensure all team members are being developed. 
  • Works in tandem with the Project Manager to appropriately schedule equipment and personnel needs using a forward-looking approach
  • Assists with creating new bids of projects
  • Responsible for all human resource related activities including interviewing, onboarding, mentoring, training, disciplining, terminating, and forecasting personnel needs. 
  • Appropriately interface with the General Foreman, other Production Managers, Project Managers, regional Directors of Operations and other leaders to ensure the profitability of the project meets or exceeds the budgeted objectives. 
  • Regularly communicate with General Foreman and other ITS management and admin team members.
  • Acts as main point of contact for several General Foreman.
  • Responsible for identifying required equipment and manpower needed per contract
  • Exemplify ITS’ Shared Values by mentoring and training our crew members on a regular basis on company performance and professional standards. 
  • Complete extensive invoicing, billing, and work progress documentation for all projects to keep Project Manager updated on projects and stay within contract compliance.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Tree industry experience 
  • Right-of-way experience 
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with utility contracts
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience acting as a General Foreman leading large, multi-faceted teams
  • Extensive computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; project management experience
  • Follow through and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present and maintain a strong, professional presence to crews
  • Extensive experience with contracts
  • Experience managing large, multi-faceted, multi-million-dollar projects on a regular basis
  • Have or obtain CDL Class A with various endorsements
  • Have or obtain state issued Pesticide Applicators license for all active work states

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • EPC work 
  • College degree in operations management, forestry management, supply chain, or equivalent

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises multiple General Foreman and crew members involved in each project. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position which will typically involve 50+ hours a week. Due to the nature of the job, the employee must be available on-call early/late hours to deal with delays, bad weather and emergencies at the job site.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL
The employee may travel extensively when the work site is not close to the main office or when responsible for activities at two or more sites.
