Tree Climber (QLCA)

Location: CA
Salary: Starting at $36 and Up to $40 / Hour with $150 daily per diem

**This position requires travel throughout the state of California. Competitive pay plus $150 Per Diem**

Summary: 

Climb trees, using climbing hooks and belts and approved climbing techniques to trim/cut trees with chainsaws and similar tree cutting tools; climb ladders to gain access to work areas or work from buckets in performance of duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Operate boom trucks, loaders, stump chippers, brush chippers, tractors, power saws, trucks, sprayers, and other equipment and tools.
  • Climb trees, using climbing hooks and belts, or climb ladders to gain access to work areas.
  • Clean, sharpen, and lubricate tools and equipment.
  • Cut away dead and excess branches from trees, or clear branches around power lines, using climbing equipment or buckets of extended truck booms, and/or chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, and clippers.
  • Trim, top, and reshape trees to achieve attractive shapes or to remove low-hanging branches.
  • Prune, cut down, fertilize, and spray trees as directed by tree surgeons.
  • Hoist tools and equipment to tree trimmers, and lower branches with ropes or block and tackle.
  • Operate shredding and chipping equipment, and feed limbs and brush into the machines.
  • Load debris and refuse onto trucks and haul it away for disposal.
  • Physical ability to travel by foot over rough and/or uneven terrain for long distances.
  • Physical capability to lift objects weighing 80 pounds unassisted with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds or less unassisted.
  • Be able to meet and comply with all safety considerations set herein and required for the position.

Education and Experience: 

  • High School diploma preferred.
  • 2 years of verifiable related experience in tree work to include climbing.
  • Qualified in line clearance tree work to include climbing as defined by OSHA.
