Trimmer Climber

Location: Charleston, WV
Salary: $15.00 - $20.00

Tree Trimmer Climber - with 1 or more years of experience in tree felling techniques, climbing, pruning, herbicide application, and mowing techniques.  Utility Right of Way and Vegetation Management. Overnight travel on a weekly basis should be expected.

Responsibilities

  • Trim and/or remove trees by climbing with aid of arborist climbing gear and aerial trucks, work from the ground using gasoline, and hand powered saws, pruners, and equipment, cutting branches or trunk sections and dropping or lowering them to the ground with lines
  • Spray stumps and brush with equipment to prevent further growth
  • Load and unload trucks with equipment, materials, logs, stumps, brush, and debris and/or feed brush into a chipper
  • Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working condition of tools and other equipment and requests repair or replacement when necessary
  • Work around forestry equipment, in close proximity of energized power lines, in all temperatures and weather, exposed to nature (i.e., irritating plants, biting and stinging insects, dust, etc.), at varying heights above ground while secured, and on uneven terrain
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must have 1 or more years of experience as Trimmer Climber using chainsaws within tree service, utility, logging, forestry industries.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with Air Brakes.  CDL requirements vary by state; however, basics include a current and valid driver's license for 24 months without suspension or loss of license within past 12 months. Check your local BMV for details.
  • Must have or be able to obtain Pesticide Applicators license
  • Must be able to work at various heights and on uneven and slippery surfaces performing mentally/physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material
  • Must be able to lift, move, and maneuver up to 30-50 pounds on a frequent basis and heavy weights up to 100 pounds on an infrequent basis
  • Must have the endurance necessary to perform duties throughout a standard eight to twelve-hour day
  • Must be able to travel out of town when needed (we pay for hotel, per diem, and mileage)
  • Must pass pre-employment hair and urinalysis drug screens, criminal background, motor vehicle record, and DOT physical and lift test
  • Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record (approved by our insurance company) and reliable transportation to report to varying work sites
  • Must be able to maintain our drug, alcohol, profanity, tobacco, and gossip free work environment
  • Must have a minimum of High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English written and verbal job instructions and information
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in U.S.
