Safety Coordinator

Position Summary

 

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the overall quality and safety of office and field staff. Maintain the documentation and records necessary to remain compliant with OSHA’s policies. Inspect worksites, machinery and facilities to ensure they are up to safety standards and providing workplace safety training. Facilitate monthly and quarterly safety meetings for all staff to ensure compliance is met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide oversight of the Company Safety Program. Ensure compliance with various state/federal regulation departments. Point of contact for the Company Safety Program
  • Provide appropriate safety and health, accident prevention and investigation training for managers and supervisors
  • Assist management in the annual inspection of Office, Yard and Maintenance workplaces to assure safe and healthful conditions for workers. Prepares appropriate notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards.
  • Train and assist Field Managers and Supervisors to perform frequent field jobsite inspections and training
  • Monthly inspect job sites/crews for safe quality tree maintenance, lane closure procedures and proper safe field management. Evaluation form should be filled out for each crew leader.
  • Assist Management and supervisors in investigating and documenting all incidents and injuries and follow up with an investigation report and developing measures to prevent recurrences
  • Administrate the company safety program with special attention to organize and supervise - bi-weekly Crew Leader’s meeting and teach a Crew Leader training course twice a year; Quarterly Safety Meetings; Equipment Checks; Tailgate Safety Meetings; and Monthly Office Staff Safety Meetings. Manage the certified Arborist and Certified Tree Worker program. Coordinate Equipment Inspection and Maintenance logs with Maintenance personnel.
  • Organize and maintain all safety documentation including but not limited to: Safety Manuals; Tailgate Safety Sign in sheets; Quarterly Safety Meeting sign in Sheets; Incident Reports/Investigations; OSHA log; etc.
  • Obtain encroachment permits as needed for jobs prior to start date

Compensation: Position starts at $23.00 DOE

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish-speak, read and write
  • 4 + years’ experience in the Safety Field
  • Proficient in English
  • Certified Arborist/Certified Tree Worker
  • Clean Class C/B driver
  • OSHA 500 hours Certified
