Consulting Utility Forester

Do you have experience in Forestry or interested in gaining some experience in this industry?  ACRT Pacific is currently seeking full-time, energetic professionals to join our growing team. Whether you are new to the industry, or have prior forestry experience, we have opportunities for you.  Our Consulting Utility Forester (CUF) positions are ideal for professionals with an educational background in forestry, horticulture, arboriculture, biology, environmental studies, conservation or related disciplines and who would like to gain or expand their experience in this field and line of work.

Depending upon your level of experience, we have CUF positions available ranging from entry level (CUF1, CUF2) to advanced (CUF3, CUF4).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
CUF 1
•    Must be at least 21 years of age
•    High School Diploma or equivalent is required
•    2 or 4-year degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Biology or Environmental studies; Or currently enrolled in a Forestry/Environmental program preferred        
•    Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills
•    Valid driver's license and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle
•    Flexibility for overnight travel is required

CUF 2
•    All CUF 1 qualifications
•    1-year of relevant work experience

CUF 3
•    All CUF 2 qualifications
•    International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certification    

CUF 4
•    All CUF 3 qualifications
•    Minimum 3 years of experience on Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) Vegetation Management System (VMS) OR 5 years of California line clearance experience
•    Utility Specialist Certification

DUTIES
•    Inspect and evaluate trees and vegetation impacting high-voltage distribution and transmission lines.
•    Prescribe necessary trimming and removals for trees along utility Right of Ways (ROWs), based on species, assessed growth rates and fail potentials.
•    Patrol for hazard trees to maintain public safety.
•    Coordinate access and customer issues with assigned tree crews.
•    Assist with submitting inspection results and professional recommendations to our clients.
•    Work independently outdoors, in rugged terrain, and inclement weather- including temperatures above 100 F, heavy rain, and snow. Terrain includes urban, heavily vegetated, hilly and mountainous, and swampy areas. We patrol everywhere power lines run.
•    Communicate inspection results with landowners, business owners, public officials, and utility stakeholders to facilitate timely completion of work.
•    Maintain ACRT’s culture of safety at all times.
•    Map reading and orienteering.
