Root Nashville Campaign Manager

Location: Nashville, TN
Salary:

Campaign Objective

Root Nashville is a public-private campaign to plant 500,000 trees in Davidson County by 2050. The campaign aims to increase the county’s tree canopy and create a more equitable distribution of the health and sustainability benefits of trees across all communities in Nashville.

Campaign Overview

Davidson County’s urban tree canopy is a public utility that improves air quality, manages stormwater, supports public health, and improves quality of life for Nashville residents. In 2016, Metro Nashville convened a committee of local public and private leaders to develop a vision to enhance Nashville’s livability and environmental quality. The Livable Nashville Committee found that, from 2008 and 2016, the tree canopy in Nashville’s urban zone had fallen from 28% to 24%, far below many comparable cities across the country. In response to the county’s rapid development and loss of trees, the committee proposed a tree planting campaign to restore the city’s urban canopy.
