Davey Resource Group provides a wide range of natural resource consulting services to clients in the private and public sectors, including urban forestry consulting and tree inventories, urban forest canopy assessments, and urban forestry management planning.
DUTIES: Responsible for all aspects of project implementation including fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, project delivery, and related administrative tasks. May be responsible for project management, including budgeting, tracking project progress and deliverables, invoicing, and client interaction. Typical clients include local, state, tribal, and federal government agencies, educational institutions, cemeteries, zoos/arboretums, non-profit organizations, and commercial forms.
The position involves the field data collection of tree and site information on both GPS devices and handheld computers regarding tree species identification, evaluation of health and condition, hazard identification, maintenance needs, and many other factors. The majority of our clients are municipalities who will utilize the data to assist and/or improve tree management and tree care operations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two or Four year degree in Forestry, Urban Forestry, Horticulture or related discipline. Working knowledge of computers and GIS systems. International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) certification is required or should be obtained within the first year of working on the job. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work and hike in urban terrain and inclement weather. Ability to work independently. Ability to travel to surrounding areas.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Inventory experience, client interaction , and experience with in proposal writing and management plan development is preferred.GIS/GPS experience is a highly desireable asset for position. Applicants with education/experience specifically related to urban forestry will be given higher consideration.
